Houston Dynamo 2 close their longest road trip of the year on Wednesday when they face Real Monarchs. The four-game road trip ends at Zions Bank Stadium and fans can follow the action live starting at 9 p.m. CT on MLSNEXTPro.com.

Dynamo 2 has secured three points during the first three games of the road trip, forcing a shootout in back-to-back games. Houston earned their first point of the trip following a 2-2 draw with North Texas SC on April 28. Dynamo Academy product Kieran Sargeant scored the equalizer in the final moments of the second half to ensure a share of the points.

More recently, captain Diego Gonzalez scored the equalizer in the final minute of the match against The Town FC on Friday in northern California. This was the second goal for the Dynamo Academy product this season. Gonzalez was among the best midfielders in the final third across league last year and finished with 11 goals and six assists.

Gonzalez’s goal on Friday sent Houston to their second consecutive shootout and Dynamo goalkeeper Xavier Valdez tallied a pair of saves to earn the shootout victory. The Dynamo Academy alum finished with two saves in regulation against The Town FC.

The Dynamo Academy was well represented on the backline last Friday with three players starting the match. Maddox Findlay led the team with four tackles won against The Town FC. Isaac Mwakutuya finished with three clearances and David Nguema tallied an interception.

In snowy Utah, Real Monarchs fell at home to LAFC2 last Sunday. The Monarchs jumped to an early 1-0 10 minutes into the game after Tommy Silva found the back of the net after finding space for a shot that found the bottom corner of the left post. LAFC2 took the 2-1 lead after back-to-back goals in the 21st and 23rd minute.  The Monarchs equalized in the 40th minute when Beni Redzic capitalized on a rebound. LAFC2 scored the game winner in the 58th minute to claim three points.

Houston swept the two-game series in 2023 with victories at home and on the road. Gonzalez scored a goal in the 3-0 victory at SaberCats Stadium on May 14 and Isaiah Reid scored a brace in a 5-3 victory on the road on July 28. Dynamo 2 also claimed six points from the two meetings in the 2022 regular season.

The team returns to SaberCats Stadium on May 22 to host St. Louis CITY SC II. Tickets for that match and all Dynamo 2 games at SaberCats Stadium are free and available HERE.
